Itaipu Binational has extended the deadline for submission of bids for a 1,000 kW floating solar plant project. This initiative aims to foster greater participation by consortium companies from Paraguay and Brazil. The new date for bid submissions is October 16, 2024, at the Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant in Hernandarias, Paraguay.
Interested companies must attend a mandatory technical site visit by October 2 to assess the physical area and logistics for the project. The floating solar pilot plant is expected to generate between 1,800 and 2,000 MWh annually for internal use. The project emphasizes binational cooperation, involving consortia of Brazilian and Paraguayan companies to provide equipment, installation, and technical assistance.
This project, slated to take 330 days from start to finish, reflects Itaipu’s commitment to advancing renewable energy technologies within the region.
